CHON Chemical supplies FreshTrap as a 0.03% 1-MCP sachet of 0.5 g, packed 800 to a 400 g stand-up pouch. Sealed in a carton, cold room or container, it delays ripening and wilting of fruit, vegetables and cut flowers. To treat a whole cold room or a whole container instead, we supply a tablet or a powder on request, after we talk through your space with you.

What to expect
In our in-house trials, produce stayed saleable for 7–20 extra days depending on the crop and on storage conditions.
Each crop page shows its own evidence and says where it comes from: cut flowers and orchids, vegetables and herbs, banana and durian. We have not yet run FreshTrap trials on durian, so that page carries published research and an invitation to trial.

Green papaya: 20 days at room temperature
In our in-house trial, the treated fruit showed no internal browning after 20 days at room temperature.
Control and treated lots stored under the same conditions and photographed from day 0. Results depend on the crop and on storage conditions.
Limits
Worth knowing before you order
Knowing what 1-MCP cannot do is part of using it well.
It delays ripening; it does not stop it
Plants gradually form new receptors (Hu et al. 2017), so a treatment's effect wears off with time.

Enclosed spaces only
It works only in an enclosed space: a sealed carton, cold room or container.
Some fruit does not respond
1-MCP does not help non-climacteric fruit such as longan, rambutan, young coconut, citrus and strawberry.

Results depend on the crop and on storage conditions. That is why we trial it on your own crop, with your cartons and your storage.
