About us

CHON Chemical: a Thai chemical-synthesis service company that never stops developing new molecules

We make molecules to order, scale them up and verify them, here in Thailand.

CHON Chemical Co., Ltd. is a chemical-synthesis service company in Bangkok, established in 2024 and founded from a collaboration with researchers and faculty of the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University. We offer custom synthesis, process development and scale-up to kilogram scale, and analytical verification by NMR and GC-MS. Our own first product is FreshTrap, a 1-MCP sachet that delays ripening of fruit, vegetables and cut flowers; more products are in development.

Where we come from

Our story

CHON Chemical grew out of chemistry research. The question was simple to ask and hard to answer: could a post-harvest molecule like 1-MCP be synthesised in Thailand, captured in a form people can use, and checked properly, batch by batch?

The team built a closed-system synthesis, captured the gas in α-cyclodextrin and confirmed the result by NMR. That work became FreshTrap. The company was established in 2024 to take it from the lab to real use, and to ask the same question of other molecules.

How we make and verify, in six steps

  2. 202522 January

    A Thai petty-patent application for the production process behind FreshTrap is filed (no. 2503000266; applicant: Chulalongkorn University).

  3. 2026

    Selected for AGROWTH 2026, the National Innovation Agency’s AgTech accelerator.

  4. Now

    FreshTrap sachets available. Registration with Thailand's Department of Agriculture is in progress.

  5. Next

    New molecules in development.

What drives us

We like to try new things. Most of them start as a question: can this molecule be made here, made cleanly, made useful? Curiosity chooses the questions. Method answers them: a closed system, NMR and GC-MS, side-by-side trials, and a plain account of what worked and what did not.
